WhatsApp Business changes to help you declutter the spam-
WhatsApp Business is revamping its pricing structure to foster service-oriented communication while reducing spam.
The new rates will be effective from August for utility messages and October for marketing messages. These charges, which vary by country, are categorised into Marketing, Utility, Authentication, and Service.
In India, marketing message costs will rise by 8%, whereas utility message costs will drop by 67%. Meta, the parent company, has introduced a fee of INR 2.3 per international authentication message. This initiative aims to make essential communications more affordable for businesses and to decrease the volume of promotional messages, enhancing user experience.
The price adjustments are designed to encourage businesses to send fewer but more relevant messages. By increasing the cost of marketing messages, WhatsApp aims to reduce spam and ensure that users receive only meaningful content. The drop in utility message costs will allow businesses to send important updates and information more efficiently.
Meta’s spokesperson emphasised the company’s goal of finding the right balance to maintain a positive user experience. People use WhatsApp for various purposes, from asking product questions to receiving boarding passes, and the revised pricing is intended to support these needs without overwhelming users with too many promotional messages.
Additionally, WhatsApp has started testing limits on the number of marketing messages a user can receive in India, which is part of its broader effort to maintain the quality of communication on the platform. By implementing these changes, WhatsApp aims to provide a better messaging experience for both businesses and users, ensuring that the platform remains an effective and valuable tool for communication.
