In honor of its 11th anniversary, instant messaging app Telegram has announced its latest update with a host of new features.
With over 950 monthly active users, Telegram seeks to give back to their community and boost its in-app experience for creators.
Star Reactions:
Users can now support their favorite channels and content creators by sending stellar reactions via emoji. Channel owners receive 100% of the stars and can convert them into Toncoin or advertising.
To turn on Star Reactions on your posts, go to Channel Settings > Reactions > Enable Paid Reactions. While each post with star reactions shows a leaderboard with the top senders, users can opt out of appearing there if they desire more privacy.
Star Subscriptions:
With this new update, content creators can make special invite links that grant users access to the channel in exchange for a monthly payment in Telegram Stars.
To create a paid link, go to Channel Settings > Channel Type > Manage Invite Links > Create a New Link and turn on the Require Monthly Fee.
Paid Media for Bots:
Telegram is now allowing channel owners to post-paid photos and videos, a feature that is extended to bots, including those powering Telegram Business accounts. This opens up new ways to automate channels and businesses, or to build sustainable services like image generation, video upscaling, and much more.
Power to Content Creators:
Telegram is charging next to zero commission when developers or channel owners use the Telegram Stars to receive rewards in Toncoin.
Furthermore, for creators who decide to reinvest their stars into promoting their channel through Telegram ads, the platform will provide a 30% discount on such ads, offering substantial support to creators looking to expand their reach.
Super Channel:
The Super Channels is a mode that allows admins to post in their channels as their profiles or as other channels, transforming the traditional Telegram experience into dynamic spaces similar to groups.
To convert a channel into a Super Channel, admins can go to Channel Settings > Administrators and enable Sign Messages and Show Authors’ Profiles.
Document Viewer in iOS:
On iOS, documents like .pdf, .xls, or .docx are now opened in separate tabs of the Telegram browser to help users easily switch between files and messages in chats.
