The month of June is a special month for the members of the LGBTQIA+ community. It’s a month that celebrates the members, the struggles they’ve gone through, and all the obsolete norms and barriers they’ve broken.
Despite Pride Month completing 50 years of its existence all over the world and various brands partaking in the celebration of the members, it’s a little different here. For the longest time, marketing to the Indian LGBTQIA+ members was unheard of. Many campaigns were featuring and celebrating heterosexual couples, but could barely, it all, could find campaigns featuring different LGBTQIA+ couples.
The queer community is yet to get as much importance and attention as others in advertising but some brands have already decided to give them a voice and create campaigns for them so they could break the taboos behind the LGBTQIA+ community and simultaneously create a space where the community feels appreciated, validated, and heard.
