“AI is here, and we will embrace it responsibly together with our music partners.”
YouTube has announced the launch of a Music AI Incubator in partnership with the world’s largest music company, Universal Music Group.
“The incubator will help inform YouTube’s approach (to generative AI in music) as we work with some of music’s most innovative artists, songwriters, and producers across the industry, across a diverse range of culture, genres, and experience” YouTube chief Neal Mohan said in a blogpost.
As part of this new initiative, YouTube will be working with a group of Universal Music Grou’s artists and songwriters, including ABBA’s jörn Ulvaeus, One Republic’s Ryan Tedder, rapper Yo Gotti, singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash, producer Louis Bell, composer Max Richter and musical icon Frank Sinatra, among several others.
“This talented group will help gather insights on generative AI experiments and research that are being developed at YouTube.” Mohan wrote.
Additionally, Mohan firmly wrote that while AI is heralding a new age of creative expression, YouTube includes appropriate protections for the creative work of artists along with appropriate opportunities for potential music partners. Moreover, YouTube will be applying its protection policies and safety teams to AI-generated content.
