YouTube has added yet another way to monetize channel subscriptions with its Members Only Shorts, enabling creators to share exclusive short-form content with paying fans.
Creators will be able to select “Members Only” within the upload flow for their Shorts, adding a level of dynamic exclusivity to their loads. Members Only Shorts will be displayed with a star icon on the thumbnail, an indication that they will only be viewable by paid subscribers.
“You can now create Members-only Shorts – an easy way to provide regular, lightweight content for your members! You can do this during the upload flow by going to “Visibility”, then selecting “Members only”. Or, you can choose to set an existing Short as members-only. You also have the option to schedule your Short to go from members-only to Public, giving your members special early access to your Short before its public release.” YouTube said.
With Shorts driving 70 billion views per day, this new feature is a simple way for creators to provide perks for their paying members and drive community in the app. Moreover, it is also an easy way to build your subscriber value, making it a good consideration for people trying to incentivize their YouTube content.
According to YouTube, Members Only Shorts are being rolled out to all YPP members from today.
