YouTube rolls out its in-app ‘Playable’ games to more users

You can now play your favorite games on YouTube.

YouTube has begun rolling out ‘Playables’, a collection of 75 free gams that are available to play directly on the platform. While it was once exclusive to YouTube premium members, and had much fewer games to choose from, it is now being rolled out more widely to YoiTube users.

Playables are a fun, interactive way to experience YouTube, with lightweight, entertaining games like Angry Birds Showdown, Words of Wonders, Cut the Rope, Tomb of the Mask, and Trivia Crack and so many more that you can play right now,” the app said.

Here’s how you can find them:

  1. Head to the main YouTube Home page, either on desktop or the iOS and Android app.
  2. Find Playables from the Explore menu.
  3. Choose from 75+ games and jump right in. You can even share the game with friends by tapping the three-dot more menu.

YouTube has also ensured that users can save their game progress and track their all-time best scores on the app.

The wider scope of ‘Playables’ is part of YouTube’s strategy to keep people engaged for longer, while also expanding its offering beyond video clips. The popularity of gaming content in the app likely provided encouragement to widen the scope still further.

YouTube aims to widen the availability of Playables to more users in the upcoming months.
