Instagram has added new Insights for Reels and Live to its Professional Dashboard, providing companies and developers with vital information about the scope of their content. These tools can assist Reels in catching up to its rival TikTok, which already provides users with comprehensive analytics. When Instagram and TikTok continue to compete, it can only be a positive thing for influencers and small companies who depend on these sites to supplement their revenue.

According to Instagram, “Based on feedback from creators and businesses, today we’re launching insights for Reels and Live. We have been inspired by the ways our community has embraced these content formats and want to make sure creators and businesses can understand how their content is performing. Additionally, we’re launching new detailed information about Reach in Account Insights. We know that understanding more about how content is being distributed is important, so we’ve built new breakdowns that provide transparency into which types of accounts you’re reaching and which content formats are the most effective at driving Reach.”

Instagram will also provide a variety of additional metrics on all forms of content, with new, in-depth stats for Reels and Live complementing the statistics already available for feed posts and IGTV.

For Reels, insight on accounts reached, plays, likes, comments, content interactions, top content, and media library amongst others will be available to users and creators alike.

As new preset timeframes are also developed for Insights, Instagram will extend over the existing “Last 7 days” and “Last 30 days” options, while soon also allowing Insights to access it via the app’s desktop edition, improving the desktop alternative functionality further. Instagram is now exploring new desktop upload solutions.

At present, these functions are only available to business and creator accounts in the app but Instagram soon plans to make the functions available to all its users.
