Apple’s new Vision Pro: here’s everything you need to know

“Experience what it’s like to use Apple’s first ever spatial computer.”

Apple is all set to launch its new Vision Pro headset on February 2nd, making it a groundbreaking moment in the field of technical innovation. Advertised as a “spatial computer”, Vision Pro combines the real world with artificial reality to give users a never-seen-before experience.

According to Apple, users will be able to “arrange apps anywhere and scale them to the perfect size, making the workspace of your dreams a reality — all while staying present in the world around you. Browse the web in Safari, create a to-do list in Notes, chat in Messages, and seamlessly move between them with a glance” using Vision Pro.

Apple initially introduced Vision Pro way back in in 2023 with a simple yet tantalizing video:

Apple has stimulated excitement even further by announcing that Vision Pro will have Apple’s first-ever 3D camera, where “you can capture magical spatial photos and spatial videos in 3D, then relive those cherished moments like never before with immersive Spatial Audio.”

To further promote Vision Pro, Apple has released a new video a few days ago with two friends using the headset for the first time. Thus, in a conversational and comprehensible manner, they showcase how the headset can be effectively used in a variety of ways, including navigation, photos, panoramas, FaceTime, etc. It also displayed how it can be used in your workplace to ensure your maximum comfort, efficiency and enjoyment.

While some have expressed skepticism and derision for the product and its promised capabilities, Vision Pro has nonetheless generated immense buzz, as demonstrated by its pre-orders. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo via his post on Medium, the American tech giant has received an estimated 160,000 to 180,000 pre-orders based on their pre-order shipping time and inventory.

Vision Pro is priced at around $3,500, which would make it around 2.91 lakhs when converted to rupees. An international launch date has currently not been announced yet.
