BYTES, a Bengaluru-based AI-driven startup focused on enhancing two-wheeler safety, has emerged from stealth mode with a significant funding boost.
The company has been selected as part of the second cohort for 2024 by Nikhil Kamath’s WTFund, securing a ₹20 lakh non-dilutive grant. This funding aims to accelerate BYTES’ mission of reducing road accidents using state-of-the-art AI and computer vision technology.
Founded in August 2024 by Prakhar Agrawal and Aayush Kumar, BYTES specializes in developing an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) tailored for two-wheelers. Their proprietary AI-driven vision technology offers real-time alerts and autonomous interventions during critical situations, significantly improving rider safety.
With this fresh infusion of funds, BYTES plans to roll out pilot programs in collaboration with major two-wheeler manufacturers. These pilots will integrate the AI-powered safety system into real-world scenarios, ensuring its effectiveness in preventing accidents.
Road accidents continue to be a pressing global issue, with two-wheelers accounting for a staggering 60% of the 50 million accidents recorded annually. Human error contributes to 90% of these incidents, and the lack of advanced safety features increases the risk of fatalities by 40%.
BYTES aims to bridge this safety gap by introducing scalable, technology-driven solutions that mitigate risks and save lives. The startup envisions a future where preventable accidents no longer claim lives, making roads safer for millions of two-wheeler riders.
Beyond the WTFund grant, BYTES has gained support from renowned institutions, including IIM Bangalore’s NSRCEL startup incubator, NVIDIA’s Inception Program for Startups, Microsoft for Startups, and the Wadhwani Foundation. These partnerships provide access to mentorship, strategic alliances, and cutting-edge technology to drive innovation in road safety.
WTFund, led by Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, offers up to ₹20 lakh in grant funding to emerging startups with transformative potential. Alongside financial backing, the fund provides mentorship and strategic partnerships to help early-stage companies scale their impact.
With this latest grant, BYTES is set to make significant strides in revolutionizing two-wheeler safety, reinforcing the role of AI in reducing road accidents and creating a safer, technology-driven future for riders worldwide.
