Actor and fitness influencer Sahil Khan has been apprehended in Chhattisgarh on Sunday for suspected involvement to the Mahadev betting app case.

According to reports by CNN-News18, Khan apparently went on the run to avoid arrest and travelled nearly 1800 km over four days across various states, including Goa, Karnataka and Hyderabad. He finally checked into Hotel Aaradhya International in Jagdalpur, where he was apprehended by law enforcement. The Mumbai Police have also seized his passport.

After being brought to Mumbai from Raipur, the actor said, “I believe in the judiciary of the country.”

Khan stands accused of involvement in running a betting site and promoting illegal betting activities. The Mahadev betting app was alleged to be involved in such activities, which are not authorized or regulated under Indian law. There are also claims of money laundering associated with the app, indicating that it was used to channel illegal funds under the guise of legitimate winnings.

Several well-known Bollywood celebrities have been drawn into the case due to their promotional activities or associations with the app’s operators. Celebrities like Sahil Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Kapil Sharma, Huma Qureshi, and Hina Khan have been summoned by law enforcement agencies to investigate their roles and the nature of their involvement in this affair.

The outcomes of this investigation may influence future regulations and enforcement against similar illegal activities in India.
