ELON MUSK ANNOUNCES NEW DAILY POST READING LIMITS ON TWITTER

On 1st July (Saturday), thousands of Twitter users reported problems when they tried to access the social media site. These included error messages like “rate limit exceeded” and “cannot retrieve tweets”. Suffice to say, Twitter users were baffled.

It was then that Elon Musk responded with a Tweet which clarified the unfortunate situation and said that he will be limiting the daily number of tweets users can read.

Musk wrote: “To address extreme levels of data scraping and system manipulation, we have applied temporary limits.” He went on to explain that verified accounts would be limited to reading 6000 posts per day; unverified accounts would be limited to 600 per day; and new unverified accounts would be limited to 300 per day.

.

Predictably, this was met with frustration and outrage by the Twitter community, who understandably felt as though Musk was infringing on their social media experience and the principles of Twitter. This anger probably played a role in Elon Musk’s update in another tweet which stated that “rate limits will be increasing soon to 8000 for vitrified, 800 for unverified & 400 for new unverified.”

This isn’t the first time Twitter has been outraged over a new development. Ever since Elon Musk took over the company, the platform has been witnessing such unpredictable changes very frequently. For example, in March, users were temporarily unable to load images or even click on links. In February, they were unable to post on Twitter for around 90 minutes after receiving a message that claimed, “You are over the daily limit for sending Tweets.”

After the drama of the last few months, Twitter users seem to be running out of patience. One tweet claimed, “

Since Musk’s latest update, users have spoken out about how it goes against the principles of Twitter. As one user commented: “The Rate Limit exceeded hing is utter bollocks. It goes against ever Twitter was originally about.”

Since Musk’s original announcement, hilarious memes have begun going viral, poking fun at this new development.
