Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company xAI has announced the rollout of its generative ai chatbot, Grok AI, in India and 45 other countries.
Similar to the rest of the world, access to Grok in India will only be available to X Premium+ subscribers, which means that Indian users who want access to it will have to be willing to pay ₹1,300 monthly (₹13,600 yearly) for a subscription.
According to Musk, The GrokAI is powered by xAI’s large language model, Grok-o. It is further propelled by real-time information form the X platform, enabling GrokAI to make sure that its knowledge is up-to-date and important. This is where it massively differs from other AI platforms like ChatGPT, which gathers information from various public sources, including books and web content.
According to their blog post, “Grok is an AI modeled after the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, so intended to answer almost anything and, far harder, even suggest what questions to ask!” It therefor has a “rebellious streak”, answering questions with wit and sarcasm. It will also answer “spicy” questions that are regularly rejected by other AI systems.
How to access Grok AI after you’ve subscribed?
- Visit the official Grok AI website at grok.x.ai.
- Verity your X account to join the waitlist.
- Click on the Grok icon.

- Sign in with your X account and begin using Grok AI’s features.
In addition to India, Grok AI will be accessible to Pakistan, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, Sri Lanka and more.
The rollout of Grok AI is the latest development in the expansion of AI models across the world and has intensified discussions on the understandable counterpoint that emphasizes its potential for harm and misuse.
