EQ-focused edutainment startup EMoMee has successfully raised $1 million in a pre-seed funding round, marking a significant milestone in its journey to revolutionize emotional intelligence education for children.
The funding round was co-led by Whiteboard Capital, Gruhas Collective Consumer Fund, and DeVC.
The funds raised will be instrumental in launching EMoMee’s “first of its kind” products in the last quarter of 2024. The company, which was co-founded in 2023 by Pooja Jauhari, Varun Duggirala, and Suraksha Subhramaniam, is dedicated to unlocking emotional intelligence through an integrated ecosystem of skill-based play, stories, content, and other learning tools specifically designed for children aged 2 to 7 years.
EMoMee aims to empower parents and caregivers to cultivate emotional resilience and empathy in children, thereby preparing them for a socially conscious future. This focus on emotional intelligence is increasingly relevant as the global Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 24.3% from 2021 to 2030.
Through expertly designed, age-appropriate skill-based play kits and an extensive content universe built around the three child characters E, Mo, and Mee, EMoMee seeks to help children develop habits that foster meaningful emotional growth. The startup’s innovative approach combines play and learning to create a holistic development experience for young minds.
Looking ahead, EMoMee intends to expand its offerings to include middle-schoolers and teenagers, broadening its impact on emotional intelligence education across different age groups. The company’s commitment to fostering emotional intelligence from a young age positions it as a pioneer in the edutainment sector.
EMoMee’s recent funding success underscores the growing recognition of the importance of emotional intelligence in early childhood development. With the backing of prominent investors and a clear vision for the future, EMoMee is poised to make a significant impact on the education landscape, helping to shape emotionally resilient and empathetic future generations.
