To celebrate the festive season, Google India has announced three unique and interactive experiences on its search page.
Departing from its usual practice of commemorating the widely anticipated Festival of Lights with static or animated doodles, Google has introduced a new search option that allows users to bring some of Diwali’s most cherished traditions alive on screen.
Taking to the social media platform X to “Dekho dek ho, Diwali aa gayi… even on Search,” the tech giant proceeded to explain how they intended to celebrate Diwali.
They encouraged people to type “Diwali” on the search engine for a “super-lit” experience by clicking the Diya, which will prompt more Diyas to appear on the screen which customers can choose to light. By typing Rangoli, users will be able to make a “rangeen ragoli” appear on their screen. Lastly, by typing “Diwali Sweets”, they will be greeted with a sweet surprise.

Google’s New Rangoli Code Goes Viral:
However, that’s not all – Google has also introduced a QR code-themed Diwali Rangoli design, a new approach to Diwali shagun (customary gift-giving) which allows visitors to transfer money through a QR code embedded directly within a rangoli outside homes.
Google’s official Instagram account shared a video of this initiative, depicting a guest scanning the code on a decorative rangoli to send Rs 500 before entering.
The post was captioned, “Masti rukni nahi chahiye #KeepTraditionsAlive.”
