HMSI Engages Over 1800 Students in Interactive Road Safety Drive at TMC School

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to road safety with a vibrant and impactful awareness campaign at TMC School in Thane.

This recent initiative saw the enthusiastic participation of over 1800 students and staff members, all eager to learn about the essentials of road safety through a series of interactive and engaging activities.

HMSI strongly believes that educating children about road safety from an early age can pave the way for safer roads in the future. By embedding the principles of responsible road usage in young minds, HMSI aims to create a generation of safety-conscious individuals. The Thane campaign is part of HMSI’s broader strategy to conduct similar programs across schools, colleges, and government institutions, thereby reaching diverse age groups and communities.

The success of the Thane campaign was made possible through the unwavering support of TMC School authorities. HMSI extends its heartfelt gratitude to them for their collaboration and reaffirms its dedication to creating safer roads and reducing traffic accidents.

Since its inception in Maharashtra, HMSI has educated nearly 300,000 individuals, including both adults and children, on responsible road usage and safe riding habits. On a national scale, the company’s road safety initiatives have reached over 6 million people, making a substantial impact on public awareness and behavior.

In 2021, Honda set a bold global vision to achieve zero traffic collision fatalities involving its motorcycles and automobiles by 2050. HMSI aligns with this vision and supports the Indian government’s goal of reducing traffic fatalities by half by 2030.

A crucial aspect of this goal is cultivating a positive mindset towards road safety in children and ensuring continued education as they grow. HMSI’s programs aim to embed a culture of safety in young minds, transforming them into ambassadors for a safer society.

HMSI conducts daily road safety programs through its 10 adopted Traffic Training Parks (TTP) and 6 Safety Driving Education Centers (SDEC) across India. These initiatives have reached over 5.7 million Indians, blending fun with scientific learning to maximize impact.

Key elements of these programs include:

  • Scientifically Devised Learning Modules: Skilled instructors deliver theory sessions on road signs, markings, driver duties, riding gear, posture, and safe riding etiquette.
  • Practical Learning: Participants engage in special training activities on Honda’s virtual riding simulator, encountering over 100 potential road dangers in a safe, simulated environment.
  • Interactive Sessions: Known as Kiken Yosoku Training (KYT), these sessions enhance participants’ ability to predict and respond to potential dangers, promoting safe driving behavior.
  • Skill Enhancement: Existing riders, including students and school staff, refine their riding skills through slow riding activities and navigating narrow planks.

HMSI remains steadfast in its mission to spread road safety awareness across all societal segments, employing unique and effective approaches to reach everyone from school children to corporate professionals.
