Katrina Kaif’s ‘Merry Christmas’ hijacks Christmas celebrations

Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi’s movie Merry Christmas is taking the country by storm with its bold guerilla marketing.

In a marketing move devised by TheSmallBigIdea’s film marketing division, the team strategically placed volunteers under ‘Merry Christmas’ branding in cities across the nation. These volunteers held up bright placards showcasing the movie’s release date and creating buzz and excitement among passersby.

This unique campaign digital realm. Just like they hijacked Christmas branding on the ground, Tips Films’ Instagram handle orchestrated a clever social media takeover. They integrated the movie flawlessly into generic Christmas holiday wishes and thus managed to engage audiences in a thrilling and dynamic manner.

Their efforts also extended to AI. TheSmallBigIdea inserted endearing elements from the movie, such as teddy bears, into twisted and chilling pictures featuring the movie’s cast. By leveraging the joy of Christmas, they were able to provoke excitement and anticipation for their upcoming thriller.

Sanmesh Sapkal, director- key accounts, TheSmallBigIdea, commented on the campaign: “Our goal was to turn the unconventional release timing of Merry Christmas into a marketing advantage. By hijacking the festive season, we not only created buzz but also made the film an integral part of the Christmas celebration. It’s about thinking outside the box and creating memorable experiences for our audiences.”

Merry Christmas is out in theatres on 12th January 2024.
