MrBeast and #TeamSeas initiative remove 34 million pounds of trash from the ocean

His star-studded campaign generated $30 million in donations.

Popular YouTuber MrBeast aka Jimmy Donaldson has achieved a remarkable feat: his star-studded #TeamSeas campaign has succeeded in removing 34 million pounds of trash and plastic from the oceans.

Partnering with the Ocean Conservancy and the Ocean Cleanup, MrBeast launched his initiative and managed to bring together hundreds of voices with large followers on social media to crowdfund. More than 40,000 channels across every platform shared his #TeamSeas content, including several hundred of the world’s top creators, like Marques Brownlee, Azzyland,  Sofia Nygaard, Dhar Mann, LinusTechTips, Alan Walker, The Infographics Show, Colin & Samir and TommyInnit. Altogether, the campaign amassed more than 1.3 billion views and generated donations every day since the launch.

Now, their efforts have paid off, with MrBeast taking to social media to announce their success and the removal of 34,080,191 pounds of trash from the world’s oceans.

MrBeast’s #TeamSeas initiative began way back in October 2021 with the goal of raising 30 million and removing 30 million pounds of trash from the oceans. In January 2022, MrBeast and his project partner, YouTuber Mark Rober, announced that they had raised the mammoth amount and that the project would begin. Much of the money was needed for hiring organizers to train volunteers, equip them with supplies, and hire specialists, boats and even robots.

Now, a little more than two years later, MrBeast and #TeamSeas accomplished their goal.

MrBeast routinely engages in philanthropy: just a few weeks ago, the content creator reportedly succeeded in building 100 homes and giving them away for free to disaster-stricken families.
