Netrasemi Secures Rs 10 Crore in Pre-Series A Funding to Advance Edge AI Solutions for IoT

Kerala-based semiconductor startup Netrasemi has raised Rs 10 crore in a pre-Series A funding round led by Unicorn India Ventures.

This funding is set to accelerate the company’s mission of revolutionizing Edge AI technology for IoT products, positioning it as a key player in the semiconductor industry.

Founded in 2020 by Jyothis Indirabhai, Sreejith Varma, and Deepa Geetha, Netrasemi specializes in developing advanced system-on-chips (SoCs) that power intelligent IoT devices. These chips are designed to perform AI-based analytics directly on edge devices, eliminating the need for cloud-based processing. By addressing over 100 AI/ML use cases, Netrasemi simplifies and streamlines Edge AI product development, making it more efficient and cost-effective.

The company’s proprietary chips are integrated into motherboards, enabling smart devices to perform complex AI tasks across industries such as medical, telecom, and industrial automation. Netrasemi’s focus on delivering high-performance yet power-efficient solutions has earned positive feedback from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) globally.

The freshly secured capital will support the fabrication of two key SoCs, the Netra A2000 and Netra R1000, which leverage Netrasemi’s patented graph-stream hardware acceleration technology. These chips are built on the startup’s Domain-Specific Architecture (DSA), enabling exceptional performance while maintaining optimal energy efficiency.

Netrasemi’s chips target a wide range of applications, including video surveillance, robotics, smart sensors, machine vision, and autonomous systems. As demand for such technologies surges, the startup aims to empower solution providers with faster and simpler ML-enabled product development.

Netrasemi has demonstrated robust financial performance, generating approximately $0.75 million in revenue through chip design and porting services. The company anticipates a significant growth trajectory, with revenues projected to increase by 150% in FY25. Exponential growth is expected to follow as volume production of its chips commences in FY27.

Netrasemi’s leadership believes that the funding will be instrumental in scaling its operations and solidifying its position in the global semiconductor ecosystem. “Our chips are set to become the first AI/ML SoCs from India tailored for intelligent edge devices. With this funding, we are equipped to scale our efforts and meet the growing demand for advanced AI solutions,” said co-founder and CEO Jyothis Indirabhai.

Unicorn India Ventures, which led the funding round, sees immense potential in Netrasemi’s approach to Edge AI. Anil Joshi, Managing Partner at the firm, remarked, “Edge AI has transformative potential across sectors. Netrasemi is uniquely positioned to lead this space with its innovative AI chip solutions, and we are confident in their ability to sustain long-term growth.”

Netrasemi is poised to reshape industries by enabling cutting-edge AI applications in domains such as surveillance, smart infrastructure, robotics, and drones. With its focus on power efficiency and competitive pricing, the startup is unlocking new possibilities for IoT solutions while catering to evolving customer needs.

As the global demand for Edge AI and IoT technologies continues to grow, Netrasemi’s advancements are set to play a pivotal role in defining the future of intelligent, connected devices.
