Snapchat announces new AR experiences for the 2024 Olympics.

Snapchat has launched new AR experiences for the 2024 Olympics, including AR Lenses, filters, and highlights, in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

These features are available on both Snapchat and the official Olympics app with the goal to enhance fan engagement and connect with younger audiences. Some of them include:

AR Lenses featuring Olympic data feeds and archival imagery, allowing fans to feel the true spirit of the Games.

Scannable Posters, which contain AR abilities within official posters and promos that activate a Snap Lens when scanned in the app.

Bitmojis, with Snap partnering with NBCUniversal to incorporate Team USA athlete Bitmojis into an Opening Ceremony in-app experience.

An AR Vending Machine, powered by Coca-Cola and Snapchat, that offers photo-ops, games and delightful prizes.

1943 Paris Transformation: A lens that transforms the city into its 1924 version, giving fans a taste of the past.

For the first time ever, in collaboration with NCUniversal, Snapchat is also bringing creators to the Olympic Games to capture and share their unique experiences and stories from the event.

These include LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne, reality star Harry Jowsey, professional streamer Kai Cenat, musical artist Enisa, and professional gamer Duke Dennis will cover events including the opening ceremony as well as Team USA Basketball, Gymnastics, Track & Field, Swimming, Equestrian, and more, as part of NBCUniversal’s Paris Creator Collective.

Snapchat’s announcements highlight their awareness of the interest their fans have in the Olympic Games. These new initiatives may help boost engagement on the app still further during the event and get more people to look at Snapchat to experience the Olympics in a never-seen-before way.
