Clever, controversial, or both?

Snoop Dogg set the internet on fire when he announced that he had decided to quit smoking, bringing his tenure as the world’s most infamous weed smoker to an end.

Taking to Instagram, the world-famous rapper posted a somber black-and-white photograph making his announcement and requesting fans to respect his privacy during this time.

Yet another black-and-white post, he poses with his eyes closed and contemplates life without lighters.

On the heels of his announcement, he was declared the official “smokesman” for Solo Stone, the creator of the smokeless fire pit.

Another video, developed by The Martin Agency, captioned ‘Snoop Dogg Goes Smokeless’, reiterated that point. “I know what you’re thing: “Snoop, smoke’s kind of your thing”. But I’m done with that”. He also emphasizes how Solo Stone is the best way to “eliminate smoke” and roasts marshmallows on one of the smoke-free fire pits.

Unfortunately, Snoop Dogg’s promise was just a humorous marketing ploy to advertise Solo Steve’s smokeless fire pit.

This announcement polarized his fans, who were taken aback by the unexpected twist. Some praised his marketing ingenuity, while others critisized how they were made to question their life choices for the sake of a marketing ad. Experts were also unamused. Many have said that this marketing campaign – intentionally or unintentionally – makes light of the challenges associated with quitting marijuana smoking.
