Threads, Meta’s answer to Twitter (now known as “X”), was an instant sensation, with social media users flocking to it in droves. While its users have plummeted significantly over the past few weeks, that hasn’t halted Meta’s determination to make Threads the biggest social media platform on the internet.

To rekindle enthusiasm, Threads has recently rolled out several new updates. After releasing a Threads update saying, “You asked, we answered. New features coming, so keep an eye out as you browse the latest version of the app”, it seems Meta has kept their word and launched new features for its users.

Follower Tab:

This new tab allows users to limit their Threads feed to view posts from people they follow in a chronological manner.

Mark Zuckerberg took to Instagram to announce this latest feature, stating: “Started rolling out an option for a chronological feed of only people you’re following.”

In order to access this option, users will be required to tap either on the home icon situated at the bottom left of the Threads app or on the Threads logo located at the top. They will also need to repeat this process every time they open the app.

Both Android iOS users on Threads can see the “Following” tan on Threads. However, it doesn’t seem to have launched for everyone in India, so don’t be surprised if it doesn’t work for your Threads account.

Translation Abilities:

Threads is also getting new translation abilities. Threads posts on the feed will be able to get automatically translated depending on the language settings of the person viewing them.

According to the company: “If you see a thread in a different language, and your language is available as a translation, you can tap the translation button at the bottom right of the post or reply to see it.”

Helpful, right?

What Else?

Instagram head Adam Mosseri has announced several other features. These include:

  • New categories for users to sort out their Activity feed, which allows them to filter posts by Follows, Quotes and Reposts.
  • A “Follow” button on the followers list which will allow users to follow other accounts back much more easily than before.
  • The ability to quickly approve several new followers if a user’s account is private. Using this option, Threads users can collectively “approve all” follow requests with a single click.

Mosseri wrote: “We heard your feedback and are rolling out some updates on Threads today. This is just the beginning. Thanks for the feedback as always – please keep sending through as we make even more updates to improve your experience on this app.”

Keep an eye out for more Threads updates in the future!
