The season of the Indian Premier League presents marketers with the perfect opportunity to advertise their brands and increase their visibility like no other. Ever since the dates were announced, agencies and brands alike have been racking their brands and coming up with the best campaigns that they can.
Here are the major campaigns of the season for far:
1.) Disney+Hotstar’s India Ka Vibe Alag Hai
The Vivo IPL Anthem film of the year introduces all the teams of the league this season through an anthem produced by Nucleya and features tracks sung by eight rappers – Dee MC, RAK, J19 Squad, Satyum, Vithika Sheru, Maharya, Gubbi, and Rawal. Each team contingent to the particular state is talked about in the local language and highlights the diversity of the country and the unanimous spirit the league brings about.
2.) Cadbury Milk and Mumbai Indians’ #SayThankYou? Initiative
In collaboration with Mumbai Indians, Cadbury Milk launched a new initiative called #SayThankYou to pay homage to the unsung and unacknowledged heroes of the pandemic. As part of this initiative, the brand will double the total runs scored in all Mumbai Indians matches to provide health insurance for daily wage earners through its NGO partner Nirmana.
3.) Dream 11’s Team Ki Batti On
As a part of their #TeamHaiTohMazaahai, Dream 11 launched a new commercial featuring their brand ambassador, MS Dhoni. In the video, Dhoni is seen playing street cricket with the youth in the dark when suddenly one of the players tries to one-up Dhoni. Undismayed by the issue presented, Dhoni continues to play cricket with them after coming up with an idea to use motorcycles’ lights to keep the game going. Through it all, Dhoni shows us how beneficial street smartness can be through various adversities.
4.) Vivo IPL’s The Hitman
Vivo IPL’s campaign ‘India Ka Apna Mantra’ for this season reflects the resilience, determination and enterprise of the nation.
Through this campaign, Star Sports has launched a promotional film featuring MS Dhoni. The commercial opens in a martial arts training camp with students playing cricket. Dhoni is seen teaching the kids excellence can be achieved through continued hunger for success. He further goes on to cite the example of Rohit Sharma’s track record of winning five IPL trophies and his hunger to add on to his tally in 2021 as a way of evoking the drive for success in the students.
