Threads Reaches 175 Million Users on One Year Anniversary-
A tweet-thread-like application launched by Meta has completed one year of its use in the social media game.
Launched to act as a rival against Elon Musk’s project X, this app Threads focuses on a similar model of only text-based pinterest. Equipped with aesthetic puns, and creators’ updates, Threads is the new trend in the market.
Threads, launched as a texting based application, like X focuses on updates, announcements, and is a cleaner version of X.
Mark Zuckerberg announced the initial version of Threads, an app built by the Instagram team for sharing only text. Whether you’re a creator or a casual poster, Threads offers a new, separate space for real-time updates and public conversations. Instagram is working toward making Threads compatible with the open, interoperable social networks that they believe can shape the future of the internet.
Instagram is where billions of people around the world connect over photos and videos. The vision with Threads is to take what Instagram does best and expand that to text, creating a positive and creative space to express your ideas. Just like on Instagram, with Threads you can follow and connect with friends and creators who share your interests – including the people you follow on Instagram and beyond. And you can use the existing suite of safety and user controls of Instagram.
Can you believe it’s already been a year?
The early rush of the launch saw Threads set a record for the most account sign ups ever, reaching 3o million profiles within 24 hours of its initial release. It followed that up by reaching 100 million active users just three months later, proving the stickiness of the app, before rising to 130 million users in February this year, seven months after launch, then 150 million in April.
And on 4 July 2024, Meta has confirmed that Threads is up to 175 million users, marking its first 12 months.
Threads is where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow.
Whatever it is that you’re interested in, you can follow and connect directly with your favourite creators and others who love the same things- or build a loyal following of your own to share your ideas, opinions and creativity with the world.
You log in using your Instagram account and posts can be up to 500 characters long and include links, photos, and videos up to 5 minutes in length.
