Tropicana is ditching artificial intelligence for natural ingredients.
The top-selling orange juice maker has released limited edition bottles that remove the letters “A” and “I” from its name to cleverly draw attention to its use of natural ingredients.
This cheeky marketing stunt, Tropcn, revolves around the company’s thoughts on AI. “Each week there seems to be a new development in artificial intelligence,” they said in a press statement. “Each new AI advancement seemingly brings us closer to the artificial world and further from the natural.” Thus, this bold and humorous initiative is aimed to highlight the fact that there is nothing artificial, and never has been anything artificial” in the brand’s much-loved orange juice.
Tropicana clarified that the company is not permanently removing these two letters from its name, merely that limited edition versions of “Tropcn” Pure Premium orange juice have been randomly distributed across grocery stores across the U.S. One such place is CES in Las Vegas, where the juice will be given away from stationed trucks.
Tropicana often comes up with innovative and original ways to promote their products. In these past few years, with customer attention turning against regular fruit juices in favour of fresh-pressed green juices. Thus, this initiative, capitalizing on the growing AI debate in mainstream news and media, can be seen as an attempt to underline the natural nature of its products and reinvigorate consumer desire for the same.
