X launches new app for TV connected streaming

After sharing glimpses of its new TV app over the past few months, X has now officially launched the beta version of its smart TV app, X TV.

The social media platform claims this is “a massive leap forward in transforming X into a video-first platform.”

The new app allows users to browse and view videos uploaded to X while also accessing live-streamed content. To use the app, viewers will make to sign into their X account.

X owner Elon Musk has ambitious plans for the platform and aims to transform it into an all-encompassing “everything” app. A focus on video content is a significant step forward in order to achieve this long-term vision.

The social media platform has signed video deals with a variety of prominent personalities so far, including Khloe Kardashian, Tucker Carlson, Jim Rome, WWE, Tulsi Gabbard, and more.

X has also asserted that it will soon be offering new ad options for the TV app, although these are not available as yet.

The first public release of the X app for smart TVs is now available on Google Play, Amazon’s app store, and LG’s app store. However, it has not yet been released for Apple TV or the Apple App Store for tvOS.
