YouTube launches new creation tools for YouTube Shorts

YouTube has introduced six brand-new creation tools to level up their short-video section, aka YouTube Shorts.

According to their blog post, YouTube has expanded massively. They have an audience of more than 2 billion logged-in users every month and wish to expand their capabilities in order to enhance and ease the process of collaboration, discovery and editing.

YouTube’s 6 features for “Shorts” are:

A new way to remix with Collab:

Collab is a new creation tool that joins Green Screen and lets you record a Short in a side-by-side format with other YouTube or Shorts videos. Creators can hit “Remix” then “Collab” to remix an eligible Short or YouTube video.

Experiment with new effects and stickers:

YouTube has been adding stickers over the past few months, but now they’re expanding. For example, they’ll soon start rolling out a new Q&A sticker, so you can ask your audience questions and get answers.

Go live and get discovered on Shorts:

YouTube is testing a mobile-first vertical live experience, so live creators can get discovered right in the Shorts feed.

Streamline your creation with suggestions:

This few feature will bundle the audio and effect from the Short you’re remixing from automatically, making it easier to create on YouTube shorts.

Save Shorts to playlists to find inspiration:

YouTube has introduced the option to save Shorts to playlists right on YouTube, so anybody can curate Shorts they love to a playlist directly from the Shorts feed.

An easier way to transform your videos to Shorts:

Within the next few weeks, YouTube will start testing new recomposition tools that will help users transform their horizontal videos into Shorts far more easily. Once they choose a video to remix, they will be able to adjust the layout, zoom, and crop of the video segment. Split screen effects will also be available.

It’s clear that YouTube sees great potential in “Shorts” and are continuing to enhance it to garner new users and viewers. This will be advantageous for creators, who will have more options to improve their content on the popular platform.

YouTube has elaborated more on these latest updates in their blog post.
